Collaboration Between ITS Indonesia and ITS Taiwan in Support of the 2024 MRT Jakarta Media Fellowship Program
ITS Indonesia and ITS Taiwan Partner in the 2024 MRT Jakarta Media Fellowship Program for Knowledge Exchange on Transport System and Payment Integration
Tuesday, November 5, 2024 – The Intelligent Transportation System associations, ITS Indonesia and ITS Taiwan, are partnering to support the 2024 MRT Jakarta Media Fellowship Program in Taiwan. This program aims to facilitate knowledge exchange between the media and the transportation industry in Taiwan. Through this program, participants will study and share insights on advanced transport system integration and payment solutions in Taipei. The program conducted from October 28 to November 4, 2024, in Taipei, Taiwan, and is expected to provide new insights into the application of more efficient and integrated transportation technology.
This collaboration reflects the ongoing partnership between ITS Indonesia and ITS Taiwan within the broader ITS network in the Asia-Pacific and the ITS World Congress, aimed at fostering smart and environmentally friendly urban mobility. Both ITS Indonesia and ITS Taiwan serve as platforms for developing digital transportation ecosystems and smart mobility to promote economic growth, social welfare, and environmental sustainability. The collaboration exemplifies the benefits of inter-association cooperation, such as knowledge-sharing activities, networking access, and regional forums. The broad and diverse ITS network has encouraged sustainable, intelligent solutions to address current transportation system challenges.
The President of ITS Indonesia, William Sabandar, expressed his support, stating, “ITS Indonesia is committed to continuously enhancing cooperation among associations, both locally and internationally, in developing better transportation systems. Support for the MRT Jakarta Media Fellowship Program is a significant reflection of the collaboration carried out by the ITS network.”
ITS Indonesia and ITS Taiwan hope that the 2024 MRT Jakarta Media Fellowship Program in Taiwan will positively impact mobility development in Indonesian cities. Taipei City has one of the leading smart city models with an integrated and well-digitized transportation system, making it a potential model for the development of smart cities and sustainable transportation systems in Indonesian cities.
At the end of September 2024, Taipei, represented by ITS Taiwan, won the bid to host the 2029 ITS World Congress. Soon, global transportation system actors will have opportunities to network at the 2025 ITS Asia Pacific Forum in Suwon, South Korea, and the 2025 ITS World Congress in Atlanta, USA. ITS Indonesia is prepared to participate and advance the Jakarta Initiatives for Sustainable and Intelligent Urban Mobility (JISIUM) to enhance community mobility.
